Large, flat inflorescences loom over a spreading mat of foliage. The marvelously salmon-colored flowers fade throughout late spring and summer. The plant should be irrigated consistently and grown in full sun. The plant can stand firm against summer drought, although it may not look its best. In wintertime the plants do reduce down to basal growth. Their level of dormancy depends on the low temperatures in the region. Also, its nectar source is coveted by butterflies.
