Commonly known as Octopus Agave, Agave vilmoriniana features long, narrow, light green foliage that twists and curls outward from the center of the plant, reminiscent of octopus tentacles. Leaves are thick, deeply furrowed down the center, and are typically smooth along the margins without spines at their tips. Quicker to flower than most Agave species, it typically reaches maturity in under ten years. It does not produce offsets, so it does need to be replaced once it dies. Plant in full sun to light shade inland in very well-draining soil. Prefers occasional to infrequent water once established.
