‘Johnson’s Hybrid’ grows in dense, spreading clumps of bright green, arching, grass-like foliage that grows just 8 to 12 inches tall and 2 to 3 feet wide. Foliage bears tiny white spots and small teeth at the margins and are much thinner than many other types of Aloe.. Blooms sporadically throughout the year with open panicles of bright orange, tubular flowers with pale yellow interiors. Can be planted in full sun along the coast but prefers cool sun to light shade inland. Prefers fast-draining, even gravelly soil. Useful as a succulent ground cover due to its spreading habit. Sensitive to overwatering especially if in heavier soil.
