Sometimes referred to as Soap Aloe, the succulent yields a sap that creates a lather when introduced into water. The plant is also called Aloe maculata in the industry. The epithet maculata refers to the distinct, intricate leaf striations of this aloe. Flattened foliage creates clumps of tight rosettes. This succulent forms colonies of offsets. Coral blooms develop on the plant in the fall. Leaves can burn/brown in intense exposure so some protection may be best in inland gardens
