A high-altitude species of Columbine endemic to the Sierra Nevada mountains where it grows on rocky slopes. Forms a small mound of delicate green foliage. In summer, short erect stems bear bright yellow to white flowers, sometimes shading to pink on their long spurs. May be planted in part shade in cooler climates, but inland at lower elevations, it should be planted in part sun to full shade. Water regularly inland. Prefers well-draining soil.
