A prostrate cultivar of the native Baccharis pilularis notable for its dense ground cover habit and resilience. Forms a dense, 1 to 2 foot high carpet of small, slightly toothed but rounded leaves that emerge bright green and age to emerald, sometimes blue-green. Often used for erosion control and slope stabilization. Will grow 6 to 12 feet wide and can be pruned to shape and is more functionally considered to grow in the 6-8’ range. Performs best in full sun and looks best with occasional summer water. Can be grown in alkaline soil, sand, and clay. Deer resistant. In our experience, Pigeon Point is the best and easiest to establish of the commonly available cultivars such as Twin Peaks, Twin Peaks II, etc. It can be established year round without problems which is not true for some of the others. And it is less susceptible to spider mites which can quickly lead to mortality in some of the other cultivars.
