A relative of Agave native to Mexico, Beschorneria is an evergreen perennial featuring broad, flexible, unarmed, sword-shaped foliage. The variegated leaves of ‘Flamingo Glow’ are lime green in the center and streaked with green throughout and along the edges. Starts out as a single rosette and grows into a cluster of several, eventually reaching 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. In summer it sends up a thick, 5 to 6 foot tall, pink-red flower spike that’s covered in clusters of drooping green flowers. Flower stalks are highly attractive to hummingbirds. Plant in full sun to light shade in well-draining soil. Drought tolerant, it should only be watered occasionally once established. Does well in containers.
