A low, spreading form of Cistus that makes a great ground-hugging evergreen shrub in both coastal and inland landscapes. It tolerates poor soil, high heat, drought, and coastal conditions. Perfect for covering dry slopes and banks or used as a flowering ground cover in Mediterranean and rock gardens. In spring and early summer it blooms profusely with small white flowers that have a bright yellow spot at the base of each petal and cheery yellow centers. Small, leathery foliage is dark green and deeply textured. Reaches 1 to 2 feet tall and spreads out to 6 feet or wider. Plant in full sun to light shade inland. Not particular about soil type as long as it is sharply-draining. Water occasionally to infrequently once established. Deer resistant.
