A hybrid of Echeveria shaviana and Echeveria affinis, ‘Black Prince’ is a small, low-growing Echeveria with black foliage (sometimes with red or purple tones) that shades to bright green in the center of the rosette. Starts out as a single 5 to 6 inch wide rosette and eventually produces offsets to form a small, tight clump. Perfect for rock gardens, succulent gardens, or grown in containers. Foliage is deeper black the more sun it gets, but appreciates light to part shade inland. Blooms late fall into winter with arching spikes of small red flowers. Plant in well-draining soil. Water occasionally and allow soil to dry out between waterings. Subject to mealy bug infestations.
