An Australian native shrub featuring narrow, glossy green foliage and red tubular flowers that open to reveal spotted throats. Flowers mid to late winter. Can grow 6 to 8 feet tall and wide but is often kept much smaller. Plant in full sun in sharply-draining soil. Tolerates infrequent watering but is more robust if given the occasional deep watering. Prune yearly after flowering to encourage new growth and better flowering.
