The ‘White Lights’ in the name of this Sonoma County-native perennial refers to the perennial’s out-of-the-ordinary white flowers. The long-lasting flowers, in bloom from spring through fall, provide nectar, pollen, and seeds for local wildlife. Small mounds (8-12”x1-2’) of dense, spreading foliage help the white selection stand out. When planted in the interior areas of Southern California, partial shade and supplemental water is required. This Seaside Daisy can do well with full sun and salt spray if planted along the coast. All in all, the perennial is drought-tolerant following establishment. Deadheading will help with aesthetics. And annual pruning to new growth from the base will keep the plant much more tidy in appearance.
