A hybrid between G. johnsonii x G. wilsonii, Grevillea ‘Bonfire’ is a medium-sized evergreen flowering shrub with very fine, needle-like foliage. Similar in foliage and flower appearance to ‘Long John’ but stays smaller. It may grow up to 12 feet tall and 8 feet wide, but looks best if pruned after flowering to maintain a dense, bushy habit. Can be kept to 6 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide. In spring and summer it blooms with spidery coral red flowers that attract hummingbirds. Plant in full sun to light shade in well-drained soil. Prefers infrequent to no supplemental watering once established.
