Native to a wide variety of inland and coastal plant communities throughout California. A tough flowering perennial with a somewhat rangy habit, it is not particular about soil condition or moisture and can often be found growing in disturbed areas. Grows up to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Blooms with bright yellow flowers late spring into early fall, retaining its flowers through summer when most native plants have stopped blooming. A great plant for pollinators. Plant in full sun and water occasionally to infrequently. Will grow in alkaline, clay, and saline soil. May go dormant during times of extended drought.
