A dense, bushy sport of ‘Safari Sunset’ featuring purple-black foliage that makes a striking garden accent. Flower bracts at the tips of the branches turn a fiery red during flowering time in winter and early spring, almost hiding the small, soft yellow flowers. Grows slowly but eventually reaches 5 to 6 feet tall and wide. Prefers good drainage and acidic soil but is thought to adapt well to alkaline and clay soils due to its parentage. Plant in full sun. Water occasionally to infrequently once established. Significantly more difficult to establish in inland conditions compared with some of the other Leucadendron.
