A sprawling perennial herb native to northern California and inland mountain forests. Being a member of the mint family, its leaves and flowers are highly fragrant. In summer it blooms with puffy inflorescences that range in color from white to pink to lavender. Flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. It looks best if pruned in fall or winter to give it a fuller appearance. Plant in part shade to full shade in well-drained soil. Resistant to deer predation
