A native perennial formerly widespread throughout most of southern California, most commonly at higher elevations. Forms a low mound of toothed, silvery gray-green foliage punctuated in spring by white to blush pink flowers. Typically grows only one to two feet wide but may spread out to several feet over time. Great for hot, dry slopes with little to no irrigation. Plant in full sun in sharply-draining, preferably rocky or grainy soil. Water infrequently to not at all once established. Tends to shed foliage during particularly hot, dry summers.
