This short-statured South African perennial does well in Southern California when cared for properly. The pale-greenish gray leaves are adored for several traits. Not only are the leaves heart-shaped but they are also velvet-textured and slightly-aromatic. The dark, red-based purple flowers typically flower most between spring and summer. Water the plant occasionally to regularly during its flowering period. It also should be grown in full sun and will do best in well-drained soils.
