A low growing, spreading California native hybrid sage. Parentage is thought to include S. sonomensis. Although this hybrid can be great for slope coverage in small scale residential applications, it has limited functional use in larger commercial applications as it can be difficult to establish without significant and ongoing mortality. Better California native choices for large scale slope coverage include Baccharis Pigeon Point, Ceanothus Yankee Point, Eriogonum Bruce Dickinson, and others. Requires good drainage and air flow. Overhead irrigation usually leads to powdery mildew. Can be extremely drought tolerant once established. Flowers attract hummingbirds.
