Small grey foliage that remains evergreen, year round although it can vary in size depending on the time of year and drought conditions. Spreads from underground rootstock but slow to do so. Small true blue flowers appear in multiple cycles throughout the growing season with heaviest initiation during early summer and fall. Drought tolerant once established but best bloom and appearance is with regular dead-heading after bloom and occasional to regular water. As a small sub-shrub this Salvia is used well in masses or solitary plants. Can be grown in full sun to partial shade. Too much shade will cause errant growth and reduced blooming. Great plant for hummingbirds.
