A small, compact, perennial Salvia notable for its tall, narrow spikes of deep violet-blue flowers that bloom late spring to early summer. Cut back spent flowers to encourage new blooms. Features large, spear-shaped, deeply-textured foliage that is lightly fragrant. Stays small at just 18 to 24 inches all around. Perfect for cottage gardens and perennial beds and borders. Plant in full sun to part shade inland in well-draining but moderately fertile soil. Needs moderate to regular irrigation. As a perennial Salvia, this plant dies back to the ground over the winter. All dead flowers/leaves should be cut back to the basal resprout each year before it pushes spring growth.
