A more garden-friendly form of our native Black Sage that has a prostrate, spreading form and is more likely to retain its foliage in the summer months than its parent. It is extremely drought tolerant and is useful on slopes and for erosion control. In spring it blooms with spikes of whorled white to lavender flowers that are a good nectar source for native pollinators. Foliage is highly fragrant. Typically grown in full sun in more coastal settings but it requires a partial shade exposure in inland landscapes. Will grow in a variety of soil types. Water occasionally to infrequently once established. Best if planted in fall to winter for establishment success.
