Salvia Pozo Blue is one of the many Salvia clevelandii x Salvia leucophylla hybrids available on the market. It has grey green leaves and attractive whorls of light purple/medium blue flowers. Hummingbirds and butterflies love to feed on the nectar produced. Very similar to Allen Chickering, Aromas, and the typical Salvia clevelandii that is mistakenly sold as the straight species in the nursery industry. Tolerant of many soil types, provided that watered carefully (heavy soil requires less water than sandy soils). Best with an annual pruning in the early fall to promote fresh growth the following spring. Although it can be grown in the landscape without this maintenance, most view it as unsightly and bloom cycles may be weaker. Take care in pruning making sure that leaves are left below all of the pruning cuts. Failure to leave leaves, typically leads to mortality. This particular selection was originally introduced by Las Pilitas Nursery. Often mixed up in the industry and sold interchangeable with other hybrids. We are happy to say that our stock originally comes from Las Pilitas material.
