Unlike most Yucca, Mojave Yucca does not die after flowering. Over a period of several years it will grow a thick trunk and eventually it will form a stand of multiple trunked rosettes reaching 12 feet tall and 6 feet wide or larger. Elongated rosettes are composed of stiff, narrow, bright green leaves that end in a sharp point. In spring it blooms with stout flower spikes covered in hundreds of large, orchid-like flowers that are cream to pale yellow with shades of purple. Plant in full sun to light shade. Must be planted in sharply-draining soil. Do not give any supplemental water once established.
