A clump-forming blue Agave native to desert regions of southern California, Baja, and Arizona. Its rigid, silvery blue-green leaves have sharp marginal teeth and terminal spines. Once it reaches maturity, it blooms with a 10 to 15 foot tall stalk of yellow flowers. Produces multiple offsets which form a colony around the primary rosette once it has died. Prefers full sun to light shade inland and is tolerant of reflective heat. Plant in very well-draining, even gravelly soil. Water infrequently to not at all once established. May need some supplemental water in times of extreme drought.
