This Mexican agave is distinguished by its small form and uniquely colorful appearance. While the mid stripes change from lighter to darker shades of green, the variegated yellow or chartreuse marginal stripes are accented with red or purple teeth. It is best to protect the plant from full summer sun if being grown in warmer climates. Even though the plant will grow at a faster rate with regular summer irrigation, the succulent is able to withstand dry conditions. In fact, the plant should be kept drier during winter months. This is not a solitary agave. It does produce offsets.
