A small, compact, hard-bodied Agave that’s low maintenance and highly drought tolerant. Great for small xeric gardens, desert gardens, and containers. Rigid, shield-shaped leaves are a powdery blue-green and have sharp, reddish brown marginal teeth and terminal spines. As such, it should be planted where it will be out of reach of people and pets. Produces multiple offsets that form a 2 to 3 foot wide clump of multiple rosettes. Once it reaches maturity, it will bloom with a 10 to 20 foot tall stalk of bright yellow flowers. After flowering, the primary rosette will die, leaving behind a colony of smaller offsets. Prefers full sun to light shade inland. Plant in sharply-draining soil and water infrequently to not at all once established. There are a number of varieties/subspecies that are grown in the industry including A. parryi truncata
