A small, compact Aloe that’s perfect for small gardens and containers, ‘Blue Elf’ grows in tight rosettes of slender, toothed, blue- grey foliage that shades to red and purple at the tips. Produces multiple offsets but will only grow about 12 to 18 inches tall and wide with flower stalks that rise 6 to 12 inches above the foliage. Blooms with tubular dark coral flowers that attract hummingbirds in winter and early spring. A low maintenance Aloe that tolerates poor soil and reflected heat. Can be grown in full sun to part shade, and only requires occasional to infrequent water.
