This species of Aloe is known for its foliage which turns from bright green to copper-red in full sun over our hot, dry summers. Grows into 3 to 4 foot wide clumps of trunked rosettes that have an open, spidery form and measure 1 to 2 feet in diameter. Foliage is long, narrow, outward-curving and lined with prominent teeth. In winter to spring, it blooms with one foot tall spikes of coral-red flowers that are highly attractive to hummingbirds. Grow in full sun in well-draining soil and water only occasionally to infrequently. Avoid overwatering to retain striking red foliage color.
