A prostrate form of our native California Sagebrush, ‘Canyon Gray’ forms a mat of soft silver foliage 4 to 8 feet wide and mounding up to 2 feet tall. Will drape over garden features and cascade over walls and banks. Grow in full sun to part shade in very well-draining soil. Water infrequently or, ideally, not at all over the summer. Perfect for dry slopes and erosion control. Foliage is fragrant and deer resistant. Can be trimmed to maintain dense form.Grows very quickly so coverage can be achieved over wide areas in just a couple of seasons. Best established during the cooler months from October to March. Can take on a rough appearance in the summer, particularly in inland conditions.
