Although it was bred as a dwarf form of Butterfly Bush, Buddleia ‘Buzz™’ cultivars tend to take on a more sizable form when grown in many Southern California gardens. Generally, however, Buddleias of the Buzz series are more dense and shrub-like than the standard Buddleia davidii. Vivid, pleasant-smelling blooms develop spring through fall. The elongated staves made up of ivory florets are exceptionally attractive to pollinators of all kinds. In order to encourage further blooming during its flowering period, dead flowers should be removed from ‘Buzz™ Ivory’. Branches should be pruned in the late fall, prior to the Buddleia’s winter dormancy. Its level of dormancy does vary depending on the USDA zone in which it is planted. In more temperate areas, it will retain many of its leaves although it will still have a semi-dormant appearance. If planted in a container, avoid full shade and poor-draining, infertile soil.
