A native sedge that grows throughout California, primarily in moist areas. If given ample water, it will spread quickly via rhizomes to form dense patches. Blooms in spring with tan flowers that age to brown. Useful for erosion control. Makes a good native lawn substitute and stands up well to mowing. It grows and looks best with moderate to regular water and may become deciduous during periods of drought. Plant in full to part sun. Can be planted in both well- and poorly-draining soil and tolerates seasonal flooding
