A small, bushy perennial featuring very fine foliage and masses of small cheery yellow flowers in late spring and summer. Can be sheared once or twice a year to encourage fresh blooms. Native to the pine barrens of the midwest and eastern United States, it is a tough perennial that can tolerate drought, poor soil, high heat, and humidity. Grows up to 2 feet tall and wide and may spread further via rhizomes. Plant in full sun to afternoon shade inland. Tolerates most soil types (including rocky soil, clay soil, and loamy soil) as long as they are well-draining. Will die back to the ground over the winter.
