A spreading, ground-hugging perennial that forms a walkable mat of grey-green and silver foliage. It can be used as a small-scale lawn alternative, used as a filler for bare spots in garden beds, or planted in between pavers or in other tight places. Blooms in summer with small, daisy-like flowers. Leaves curl up along the edges, exposing the silvery undersides and making the plant appear variegated. Slow-growing but eventually forms a dense, weed-smothering mat that tolerates heavy foot traffic once well-established. Its deep root system makes it drought tolerant and susceptible to overwatering. Water occasionally to infrequently once established. Plant in full sun to light shade. Needs well-draining soil. Can be difficult to establish during the hot summer months in inland S.
