A variety of Red Fescue selected from the N. California coast that grows in low mounds of soft, slender blue-green foliage, 1 foot tall and wide and spreading farther via rhizomes. Airy flower panicles bloom in spring on thin stalks that rise 6 to 12 inches above the foliage. Evergreen foliage does not need to be cut back although can be refreshed for a softer appearance with hard shearing/mowing. Plant in partial shade or partial sun inland as it needs protection from hot afternoon and evening sun. Needs regular to occasional water particularly inland but if conditions are not right, the plant may rot or decline. Good for use in meadow gardens or as a small scale groundcover or lawn
