A finely textured cool season bunchgrass native to dry areas throughout central and southern California. Grows in upright clumps up to three feet tall and blooms in spring with delicate clusters of cream and purple flower spikelets. Nice in mass plantings or meadow gardens. Can also be used for erosion control on hillsides. It tends to go dormant during hot, dry inland summers. Plant in full to part sun and water infrequently to not at all once established.
