An evergreen species of Muhly Grass native to the American southwest and northern Mexico, Bamboo Muhly’s distinctive appearance makes it stand out from most other grass species. Wispy, light green foliage sprouts out of elongated stems that, with their prominent joints, have the appearance of miniature bamboo canes. Leaves cover the length of its arching stems, giving the plant a soft, shaggy appearance. Blooms late fall into winter with masses of small, chartreuse flowers. Grows 5 to 6 feet tall and spreads slowly via rhizomes to form a large clump, 4 to 5 feet wide. Can be planted in full to part sun. Water regularly for best performance. Tolerant of most soil types.
