Another selection with pink panicles borne in the midsummer, this Switch Grass has a more bluish-gray foliage than ‘Heavy Metal’. ‘Prairie Sky’ has a similar stiff and upright growing habit. A warm-season grass, this particular grass goes fully dormant in winter. Full sun is most beneficial for the plant, but it can grow in most soils. Like other Switch Grass, ‘Prairie Sky’ is drought-tolerant. Since this Panicum will go fully dormant, even in temperate climates, it is recommended to cut it back to the base annually.
