A long-blooming evergreen perennial, ‘Lavender Ruffles’ is a Border Penstemon selection that features spikes of trumpet-shaped, lavender flowers with white and purple striped throats. Flowers bloom late spring into fall and are a favorite of hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. A perfect plant for cottage gardens and perennial beds and borders. Deadhead flower spikes over the summer to encourage reblooming and cut back in winter for more compact form and denser foliage in spring. Highly tolerant of moderately fertile and poor soils but needs sharp drainage. Prefers light to partial shade inland and regular to occasional irrigation. Border Penstemon are typically short-lived perennials, with a lifespan of 3 to 5 years, but are worth replanting for their striking flower display
