Native to dry, inland mountain ranges, Penstemon palmeri is useful for bringing color to desert gardens. Features glaucus blue foliage and blooms in spring with dramatic stalks of large-mouthed flowers. Flowers are pale pink to lavender with dark stripes leading into their throats for pollinators. One of the few fragrant Penstemon. Excellent for hot, dry spots. Plant in full sun in sharply-draining soil and water sparingly to not at all once established.
