Commonly known as Sweet Lavender, Lavandula heterophylla is a grayish-to-green leaved shrubby lavender with flowers born on long wands up to two feet tall. It flowers most heavily in spring but will bloom intermittently throughout the year. It tends to grow woody at the base and looks best over time if pruned at least once a year. Flowers and foliage are highly fragrant and can be harvested and dried for their fragrance, although they are not suitable for human consumption. Can prove difficult in intense exposure in inland areas and is best with some protection from the sun.
