A lighter flowering form of Verbena lilacina that was introduced by Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. It has slightly more robust leaves than Verbena ‘de la Mina’ and gets a bit larger. Otherwise, it has most of the same great characteristics of ‘de la Mina’. The flower is a light , pale lavender color that is a variant in some other members of the Verbena genus including V. rigida. Blooms virtually all year in most temperate areas of southern California and tolerates regular pruning if needed to keep tidy and promote the continuous bloom. Prefers good drainage but will perform in heavier soils as well. Also prefers supplemental irrigation in the summer although it can also tolerate drought conditions (not without showing it). Grows best in full sun but will tolerate partial, filtered shade. Too much shade leads to errant growth and reduced blooming. Excellent choice for butterfly gardens.
