A hybrid of H. sanguinea and H. maxima, Heuchera ‘Rosada’ is popular for its long bloom time and tolerance of tough growing conditions. Requires shade in most conditions but can tolerate some partial sun in more coastal areas. Fantastic plant to use in mass plantings under oaks. Hummingbirds will frequently visit while in bloom. Also tolerates infrequent watering once established. Scalloped basal foliage is a deep green that may take on reddish highlights during the cool winter months. Blooms with 8 to 12 inch tall spikes of soft pink flowers starting in spring and continuing through summer. Grows 1 to 2 feet wide. Rosada is often considered the most resilient of the RSABG H. maxima hybrids and the most tolerant of a variety of conditions. Although it can be susceptible to mealy bugs and root borne fungus from overwatering, in our experience it tends to have a lower mortality rate than Opal, Wendy, and the true species H. maxima.
