A spreading perennial that produces abundant quantities of deep purple flowers from spring through fall. Great for butterfly gardens. Surprisingly drought tolerant although prefers irrigation to keep it looking more attractive. Requires plenty of room in the garden as it will spread underground. Goes fully semi to fully dormant in most areas of S. California. It is best to cut back the growth in the late fall to early winter to promote healthy, fresh growth and blooming the following spring. Can be susceptible to powdery mildew.
